The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) is offering fully funded scholarships for Ethiopian nationals. The Embassy of Japan in Ethiopia is currently accepting applications for the following MEXT programs:

Key Guidelines for Applicants

• Must be Ethiopian nationals
• Application documents must be:
  
  • Typed and printed on A4-sized vertical paper
  • Non-returnable copies with all original stamps and signatures where required
  • Include original recommendation letters, transcripts, and certificates
  • Photographs must be glued (not stapled)
  • Handwritten applications will not be accepted

Selection Process Timeline

1. Document Screening – Deadline: May 30, 2025
2. Written Exam – Tentatively in June 2025 (at the Embassy in Addis Ababa)
3. Interview – Tentatively in July 2025 (in-person)
4. Primary Screening Results – Announced Late July 2025
5. Final Selection – Conducted by MEXT in Japan (no interview)
