About EPHI:
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is a dynamic federal government agency under the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), empowered by Regulation No. 301/2013. EPHI is dedicated to public health research, national surveillance, emergency preparedness and response, and laboratory services. It also oversees the National Data Management Center for Health (NDMC), which leads initiatives for health data governance, analysis, visualization, and evidence-based decision-making.
This recruitment is part of the Africa CDC Regional Investment Financing Project, funded by the World Bank, aiming to develop robust disease surveillance and reporting systems.
π Position 1:
System Developer (Full Stack Web Developer)

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy web-based disease surveillance systems.
- Design interactive front-end using ReactJS, VueJS, D3.js, etc.
- Build robust backend systems using Node.js, ExpressJS, and MongoDB.
- Integrate APIs for real-time data access.
- Ensure system security, maintenance, and performance.
- Visualize public health data using interactive dashboards.
- Collaborate in Agile and sprint-based development cycles.
- Maintain documentation and version control.

Expected Deliverables:
- Efficient web applications for health data tracking and reporting.
- Backend API services for seamless data integration.
- System and database documentation.
- Secure and optimized platforms aligned with regional needs.

Required Qualifications:
- MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in full stack web development.
- Proficiency in JS libraries, API development, database design, and data visualization.
- Preferred certifications in full stack or front-end development.
π Position 2:
Statistician

Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze public health and clinical data using tools like STATA, SPSS, R, and SAS.
- Develop advanced statistical models including survival analysis, logistic regression, and epidemiological study design.
- Prepare scientific reports and publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Work with national and international collaborators to support public health policies.
- Provide statistical support to surveillance, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and lab capacity projects.

Expected Deliverables:
- Statistical reports and manuscripts for publication.
- Analyses of surveys, administrative records, and clinical data.
- Statistical frameworks for disease monitoring and prediction.
- Evidence for policy-making at regional and national levels.

Required Qualifications:
- MSc in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Mathematical Modelling.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of epidemiological methods and public health research.
- Published at least 3 research articles, with 1 as first author.
- Excellent command of statistical software and modeling techniques.
