The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) is seeking a qualified Printing Press Operator (G-6) to join its Publications & Conference Management Section (PCMS) under the Publications, Conference, and Knowledge Management Division (PCKMD) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Head of Production Services and direct supervision of the Printing Supervisor, the Printing Press Operator will oversee offset printing operations to ensure high-quality production of official documents and publications.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain offset printing equipment, multi-color printing machines, and print finishing machines in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Organize and coordinate work shifts to meet production deadlines efficiently.

• Interface with the front desk, desktop publishers, and graphic designers for job specifications.

• Distribute assignments for efficient workflow and equitable workload distribution.

• Maintain production records, safety standards, and waste management following ISO 14001-2015 procedures.

• Conduct troubleshooting and maintenance of offset printing equipment.

• Train junior staff and supervise in the absence of the team leader.

• Assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting for planning and decision-making.

• Perform other duties as required, including weekend and overtime availability.

Qualifications & Experience

✔ Education: High school diploma or equivalent (A bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering or a related field is desirable).

✔ Experience: Minimum 7 years in a production/offset printing environment (5 years with a relevant degree).

✔ Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of document management workflow and advanced maintenance/repair.

• 1+ year of experience in data analytics or related fields (desirable).

✔ Language: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
