Telecommunications service in Ethiopia was introduced by Emperor Menelik II in 1894, with the construction of the first telephone line from Harar to Addis Ababa. Over time, the network expanded rapidly, connecting major centers across the country and facilitating long-distance communication.
As part of Ethiopia’s development efforts, the government prioritized the improvement of telecommunication services within its 2005/06–2009/10 five-year plan. Consequently, Ethiotelecom was officially established on November 29, 2010, under the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), aiming to support the steady growth of the country through enhanced telecom services.

Position: Personal Assistant
Job Summary:
The Personal Assistant will serve as the first point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
• Screening telephone calls, inquiries, and handling them appropriately.
• Organizing and maintaining diaries and appointments.
• Managing all administrative tasks.
• Organizing meetings, arranging travel and accommodation.
• Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence (emails, letters, packages).
• Supporting associates to optimize office procedures.
Job Requirements:
• Educational Qualification:
College Diploma (10+3), Level III or IV in:
• Customer Contact & Secretarial Operations
• Customer Contact & Secretarial Operations Coordination
• Secretarial Science and Office Management
• Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as:
• Administrative Assistant
• Archives Clerk
• Customer Profile Management Clerk
• Secretary
• Certification:
COC certification is preferable.
Additional Skills:
• Strong customer orientation.
• Active listening, empathy, emotional intelligence, and clarity in communication.
• Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent customer service abilities, conflict resolution, patience, and flexibility.
• Stress management, time management, and professionalism.
• Team spirit and collaboration across departments.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications.
• Good knowledge of communication methods, customer environment, and working tools.
• Fluency in English and Amharic (reading, writing, and speaking).
