Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the African Union Internship Program, applicants must:
• Be actively enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree OR hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or advanced postgraduate degree in a related academic field.
• Be nationals of an African Union Member State.
• Be full-time students in their final year of undergraduate or graduate studies.
• Be proficient in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
• Be no older than 32 years at the time of selection.
• Possess high moral conduct and integrity.
• Have no record of serious criminal offenses (excluding minor traffic violations).
• No prior work experience is required.
Internship Terms and Conditions
• Unpaid Internship: The AU does not provide financial support—interns must cover travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
• Visa Assistance: The AU will make reasonable efforts to assist with entry and residence visas.
• Internship Duration: The program lasts three (3) months, renewable once.
• No Travel or Medical Benefits: Interns must arrange their own insurance coverage.
Required Skills
Candidates must demonstrate:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong email and internet application skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
• Fluency in at least one AU official language (knowledge of additional AU languages is an advantage)
