Women Empowerment Action (WE-Action) is a feminist organization dedicated to advancing women’s rights. Operating for over 30 years in various regions of Ethiopia, including Amhara, Oromia, Southern Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia, and Tigray, WE-Action works towards achieving gender equality, promoting sustainable livelihoods, ensuring protection and support, and fostering organizational excellence. WE-Action is currently seeking a Project Cashier to join its team in Tigray Region.

Position Overview

The Project Cashier will be responsible for managing financial records, processing payments, and ensuring the smooth operation of financial activities within the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and control the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, expense reports, and payroll.

• Reconcile financial statements and bank accounts on a monthly basis.

• Prepare and submit financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual).

• Assist in budget planning, modifications, and forecasting.

• Ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of reported expenditures.

• Manage office supplies and ensure the timely payment of utility bills (electric, water, internet, etc.).

• Assist in procurement processes and close-out procedures.

• Process authorized payments to suppliers, staff, and others in a timely manner.

• Ensure tax, pension contributions, and withholding taxes are settled promptly.

• Maintain petty cash records and prepare summary reports for replenishment.

• Handle other administrative and financial duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Educational Qualification: BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial reporting software; Peachtree software and advanced Excel skills preferred.

• NGO Experience: Experience in a non-governmental organization is an asset.

• Other Skills: Strong communication, administrative skills, and knowledge of IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards) is a plus.
